Social Media for Coaches: Case Study

On average, we spend 135 minutes a day on social media. Social media is a huge part of our everyday lives, and it’s here to stay. As a coach, you’ll need a social media presence to stay relevant in what’s already a saturated market. Social media channels provide useful avenues to tell your professional story, attract clients and enhance the profile of your coaching business. If you’re a coach, you might be aware that your competition is slowly but surely getting the idea of social media and while you are still hesitating, they are building their “tribe”, engaging with their potential clients and growing their business as we speak. If you’ve not yet tackled this, then you’ve come to the right place. Breaking things down nice and simply, here’s three key steps to start you off…

1) Outline your goals: Never do things just for the sake of doing things. Know what you’re looking to achieve from social media and tie this into your overall business plan. (Because trust me: social media can create some serious growth!) Would you like to build your personal brand to become more credible and well-known? Is it directing more traffic through to your website that would be more valuable? Or maybe you’d like to use it for relationship-building, creating a pool of potential prospects, warm leads and ultimately new clients?

2) Determine your channels: In an ideal world, we’d love to have a strong presence across every platform, but when your budget is smaller or your time is limited- you have to determine the strongest platforms for you initially, then branch out as your business grows. Where can you find your target audience? Which channels are they most engaged on? And how can you best establish yourself on these platforms? Analyse. Select. Then strategise! And I know, it’s not always that simple. With so many platforms to choose from, social media can often feel overwhelming. But take a little time to understand the platforms yourself, get to know them and how your audience is using them. Because once you can establish this, you can create the most effective plans to move yourself in.

3) Consistency is key: For coaches, personal branding has got to be at the core of all your social media strategies. People invest in people and for your business, they really will be buying into you. Is there consistency in your branding across all of your channels? Is there consistency when it comes to your content, your messages, your tone and voice? And is there consistency when it comes to you simply being there and active? It’s important to have a strong online presence and sustain it. This means replying back to messages, responding to comments, maintaining a regular posting schedule. Trust me: not only does it keep you in the forefront of potential clients minds, but it also significantly increases conversion when you do start lead generation campaigns. Start small if you need, but always stay consistent.
